Yoga

Yoga means "union" and therefore it is a physical practice of balancing and uniting the mind, body and spirit. As with all forms of Yoga it is much more of a "work in" than a "work out." Through attention to the breath, listening carefully to the messages of the body and being present, students enjoy the multiple benefits of a Yoga practice. All Yoga teaches the student to become strong, balanced and flexible, helps to manage stress, learn patience and so much more. Yoga practiced well transfers to everyday life in wonderful and often surprising ways.

The class uses traditional yoga asnasas (poses) with modifications to stretch, strengthen, increase endurance, promote balance and increase concentration. All poses are supported with a chair as well as other appropriate props. In this supportive environment students are encouraged to progress as their own body and limitations allow.

The other half of class finds you down on the mat holding yin poses for longer periods of time, targeting the connective tissues of the body to help release deeply stored tension. The two styles are a perfect marriage to create an amazingly transformative practice.
